Dear Friends and Family of Lou Garbus (a.k.a Louie)
With a heavy heart I report that dad died suddenly this afternoon in Belfast, Maine in Harbor House where he was recuperating after his recent hospital stay.
It was reported by someone who was near him that there was no cry of pain... he was conscious one moment, then fell backwards on his bed... perhaps a massive heart attack or stroke? So, it appears that he had a peaceful death.
There will be a memorial and life celebration for dad and mom (who passed away last month) in Searsmont, Maine on the 21st of November... Details to follow.
Please add your thoughts, prayers, wishes, photos, drawings, etc. to this blog.
Love to all,
Bill Garbus

ReplyDeleteHi Bill, I'm not sure if we ever met but my father and I both knew and were very fond of Louie. I know that a documentary featuring Lou was in progress. I was wondering if there were still plans for that movie to be presented to the public? Hope all is well with you and your family! Sincerely, Megan Grover
ReplyDeleteGod bless him
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your parents passing. They were an essential part of the community of amazingly intelligent and creative people who nurtured and enriched us as we grew up. And Lou not only photographed me and my sister as little children, but my own children as well. In this he had no equal.
ReplyDeleteHi Billy, I knew your parents from my childhood until they retired to Maine. Lou took baby pics of me and all my elementary school pictures. May parents, Archie and Gert Levin were friends of Lou and Betty. Please accept my sincere sympathies for your loss.
